Shalom Harlow at Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 1999 - No. 13

This show was inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement and it ended with the model Shalom Harlow rotating on a turntable wearing a white dress being spray painted by two industrial robots. Harlow trained as a ballerina; It’s often said that the inspiration behind the collction was the dying swan. In actual fact, the inspiration came from an installation of the artist Rebecca Horn, of two machine guns firing paint at each other.

ROMANCE WAS BORN SPRING/SUMMER 2012

Blam! Boom! Pow! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia has popped off and so far so good! Today we bring you Romance Was Born’s Spring/Summer ‘12 collection flooded in fantastic superhero/comic book motifs. Designers Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett’s eye for color and details make us melt. Think power reds and royal blues, tightly bound over Wonder women in form-fitting style. Definitely not for those who don’t want to be noticed, but it is only fair to say the label just keeps getting better and better!

ANA LJUBINKOVIC’S S/S 2012 GIF LOOKBOOK

How fun! Serbian designer, Ana Ljubinkovic, plays up the digital worlds influence on fashion by creating a Spring/Summer 2012 entirely of animated GIFs. A cute concept for a conceptually cute collection filled with floral, pastel, and interesting structured silhouettes. We’re into it!
